This winter transfer window is always a period of feverish rumour and possible major transfers. A number of notable stars are being connected to moves out of their current clubs. This article explores some of the top figures that could be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, this has left the player available, reports suggest a significant transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a £65 million release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Recent reports point to Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have turned their attention to alternative targets, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his contract set to expire in the close season, this represents the club's final chance to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. The Wales winger has found starting minutes limited at Tottenham this term. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started just a small number of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the North London club would be willing to consider a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally showing an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal playmaker might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential opportunity. Teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there are rumours from Spain that he would be prepared to take a pay cut for a move to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barça following the coach Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a winter departure looks highly likely. Villa were initially linked as a potential destination, but that option currently seems off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing curiosity in the keeper.

I. Toney

The prolific England striker has kept finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League might enhance his fading chances of being in the national World Cup. The Turin club are desperate to secure the youngster to a new long-term contract but face a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Netherlands midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ side. This 19-year-old is heavily expected to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
